Meet Max and Adopt Him!

I've teamed up with the Greater Huntsville Humane Society with the purpose of bringing more attention to pets who have been with GHHS for a long time.  And I'm starting with Max!

Max is a 9-year-old "pita" (pit/akita mix). He's a staff & volunteer favorite at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society and I can see why! When Max and I met he was easy to walk, he sat when he was told, was very attentive to treats.  He even licked my leg - not the big sloppy kind but the sweet kiss kind of lick (I think it was because I brought homemade treats :)).

Max was originally adopted as a puppy, then used as a "guard dog" for the house. He was returned to the shelter when his owner was deployed, and he has been at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society looking for a home ever since.

Max would do well in a home where he is the only dog, as he attaches to people very quickly. He can be a little defensive, especially around strangers, but typically makes friends as long as there are treats involved (I was proof of that :) ).

Max's story and this painting speak volumes to me: Max is a regal dog who proudly protected his family, he had to be left in the care of GHHS while his original owner went to Afghanistan to protect our country.  The painting shows Max looking off into the distance; he is waiting, searching for his forever home.

Max is available at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society no-kill shelter for $25.  Please help Max find his forever home soon.  Who ever is lucky enough to adopt Max before the end of June, will also receive this timeless painting of their new family member.

Please help spread the word so Max can find his forever home!
