We all have it, we all don’t want it…it’s the, dare I say it, dare I admit it???

THE JUNK DRAWER – I here the psycho music music I write this… I hate my junk drawer, I soooo want to get ride of it…

 

But one day, Em got sick; actually she was sick for 5 days – WHEW! She had a fever for about 2.5 days, by the third day I knew it wasn’t a 48 hour virus that typically goes around at day-cares. I heard her cough, and asked her:

  • ‘Does your head hurt?’ (touching my head),‘No’;
  • ‘Does your throat hurt when you cough?’(touching my throat) , ‘No”
  • ‘Does your chest hurt when you cough?’(touching my chest) and she answered ‘Yes’.

On that Friday evening, I immediately took her to the emergency room in fear of bronchitis that could turn into phenomena.  I, like many of you, think of the worst and because of that, I think our children should be forever grateful that we, there moms, are thinking of protecting them.

Turned out she had bronchitis AND strep throat!  I’ve had bronchitis and was miserable for 5 days, I know Ben is susceptible to strep throat and he is beyond miserable to be around…so here is my 3 year old little girl who has both strep and bronchitis.  She dealt  with what 2 adults have had and dealt with it terribly – separately, and terribly (I have to stress).  My poor baby.

Thankfully the doctor gave her some fantastic antibiotics; I noticed a huge difference just within 24 hours.  During which time she discovered the coveted “Junk drawer”!!!!

She played in the junk drawer for hour and a half of entertainment!  She found a ton of hair bows, cough drops (hey that’s helpful),  pens, markers, stickers, small toys etc… In the end, Em helped organize the drawer. :) -did you notice the bracelet around her leg :)

I now see the value in the drunk drawer!  Never again will I shoo the kids away from the junk drawer!
