Grandpa , my dad, turned 65 this year and we had to celebrate! So we put together a small family gathering where we grilled burgers, had lots of appetizers and yummy food. Grandpa was in his element, good food, family and stories to tell.
He has been retired for 4 years now and is settling into his own. He sends me pictures almost on a nightly basis of a 21″ bass or a crappy or catfish, drum fish and so forth. He’s really enjoying himself. So when his birthday came I had to follow his passion for fishing and relaxation and this is what I came up with
I made an awesome tag using Silhouette Cameo and very uniquely gift wrapped his gift of cigars and a bottle of wine.
To make the tag, I used several resources:
- I had pinned on Pinterest how to trace your own images from Sew Dang Cute Crafts, so I could print and cut out the fish.
- Luckily, the night before his birthday I watched a video on Scrap til your heart’s content and because of that tutorial I was easily able to put together this tag. For the burnt edges, I actually used a soldering wand.
- For the “Life Kin Be Beautiful” image, I Googled “Vintage Fish Images” and found the website “Moldy Chum – Because we all live downstream”, they had some great pictures!
I didn’t stop there! The present needed to be wrapped to match the MANLY tag and the only MANLY wrapping paper I actually have is black wrapping paper (I love black and white wrapping paper is fantastic for any gift cause it’s easy to accessorize). But I didn’t want just plain old black or white…so I came up with this:
I had a blast wrapping this present!
I wrapped the present in regular white wrapping paper. Took it outside, sat in the grass/weeds and started grabbing weeds and spraying the Elmer’s Spray Glue. If any neighbors saw me they probably thought I was crazy! I was literately giggling while I was adding weeds to the present. It was just so much fun!
Grandpa, appreciated the good-ole redneck ingenuity that was put into this present. And of course the cigars and bottle of wine were fantastic too!
