One day my son is going to regret me writing this…but it’s true…
LilMan doesn’t seem to care that he wets the bed at night – I get the image of Lloyd from the movie “Dumb and Dumber” saying “just go man” and then “ahhhh, it’s warm”…
Anyway, the smell is awful, despite the protective mattress cover and changing the sheets daily.
I ran across a wonderful remedy to get rid of the smell on Pinterest, which was pinned from Make it Do. I repinned it so I had easy access to do it someday…well the someday is now!
Follow me on Pinterest, most things I pin I really want to try in my lifetime. :). This one I can vouch for – it works!
For one bed, I used 1/4 cup of Baking Soda, and 7 drops of Lavender Oil. I had Aveda lavender oil in my bathroom for years and years – it still smells awesome and a few drops goes a really LONG way.
To make the lovely smelling concoction: Pour the Baking Soda into the Ziplock Bag, add the dashes of Lavender Oil, shake it and you are ready to poke holes in the baggie. (Make it Do used a hand held strainer, I don’t have a strainer so I used a Ziplock baggie and poked holes with a toothpick.) Then sprinkle it over the mattress.
I let it set while I laundered the sheets and comforter. I also added a tablespoon of Baking Soda to the washing machine to help get the smell out of the sheets.
When the sheets were done, I vacuumed the mattress the lazy way – I stood on the mattress and vacuumed it like it was the floor.
The mattress smells great! Actually the whole room smells great! And an added perk, my vacuum cleaner smells really nice too!
So at least for the day, the room smells fabulous! LilMan has another shot at not wetting the bed tonight. Fingers crossed…
What did you do to stop your child from wetting the bed? Comments/suggestions are beyond welcome!
